Origin

This case is one of the exploration and practice of the functional needs of the current sales office, the future life scenario.

Location

The project site is located on an open plain, surrounded by is mainly industrial land, adjacent to the river, with a wide view, and the city green belt on the south side, scattered with trees. The green landscape and the natural landscape of the building became an important origin of the design, asking questions and striving to form a unique place experience for the future park.

Although the starting point is the sales office, the intention is to provide a transformable, free, open and presentable meeting place for the future industry park.

Concept

The project site is unique in that it is about 90 meters long facing the south street, with a maximum width of 12 meters. The future surrounding buildings are low in height and relatively small in volume. Combining the surrounding urban fabric and the project site to form a concept of two boxes with different transparency. The advantageous location next to the crossroads makes it a visual focal point. It is therefore desired to create an architectural effect that is consistent from the inside out, with the interplay of hazy and transparent interplay between the interior and the exterior.

The design of the showcase is the result of a dialogue between the space, the garden and the city. The design is planned by dividing the space and redefining the function. Firstly, the sales office and the clubhouse are divided into two different functions on both sides of the axis, while the display function of the demonstration area is opened on the first floor and the meeting and office function of the clubhouse is distributed around the inner courtyard. Finally, the two volumes are unified by the same material façade, and the openings of different nature are kept separately to create a public urban space combined with landscape.

The garden space is formally intertwined with the enclosed building and can be understood as another “room” for the building and part of the building’s slowly unfolding in its spatial sequence, which is revealed space by space, just as a poem is revealed line by line.

The project can be accessed through the westernmost garden – an urban haven between the street and the enclosed building. Walking through the garden, visitors can perceive the double-height exhibition space – announcing their entry into an artful display environment. Inside the building, an exhibition/sandbox and revolving staircase connects the spaces, and visitors can begin a narrative tour of the space against the backdrop of the garden.

Visitors enter the project through the garden, an urban sanctuary that mediates between the street and enclosed building. Entering the garden, visitors perceive the double-height library space, announcing that they are entering into a literary environment. The sales office and the clubhouse are designed to have two distinctive functions on either side of the axis, with the sales office on the south side and the clubhouse on the north side. The façade of the sales office is light, transparent and open, as a window for public display. Transparency builds a link between the building and the surrounding environment, and the ground floor space can be used as an urban living room, becoming a continuation of the urban public space. The external façade of the private clubhouse is simple, private and quiet, lining up functions around the inner courtyard as an inward-looking gathering space.

As the interior of the building has a rich experience, the different heights and local ground elevation produce regionalism, and the local ceiling is PC panel also makes the interior form various light and shade at different time periods. Among them, the display area of the metal box is the window of the building open to the city, which can be used as the display space of the sales office and later transformed to be called the propaganda mouth of the corporate culture. One of the display space becomes a landmark building, the building will have two states of day and night, in the daytime it has a simple shape and modern sense, while in the night transparent and artistic sense of technology, adding attention to the park’s vitality.

During the day, the shadows of the roadside trees are cast on the building walls, through which the interior can be seen vaguely at the same time. At night, the light from the interior shines through the perforated aluminum panels, making the whole building look like a luminous matte box. Perforated aluminum panels are made of pure aluminum or aluminum alloy by pressure processing to obtain a rectangular cross section with various holes in a rectangular shape of uniform thickness. Because of its high ductility metal, it is easy to produce a bright spatial effect in the application of architectural skins.

By means of a special processing, it is intended to be treated as a curved shape, creating a special rhythm of the skin. Perforated aluminum panels achieve a translucent effect, which can form a hazy and light feeling like a yarn, enriching the expressiveness of the building skin.

It consists of three groups of landscape spaces of different nature, corresponding to the architectural functions therein. The three groups of landscapes from the south side to the north side reveal the narrative nature of which the architects are thinking about: an open urban park connected to the existing urban green landscape vein; an open landscape space in the center that opens the park to the outside; and a private internal landscape space to the inside.

 

Woodesign lab hopes to create an urban lifestyle through the sales center, following the light and exploring the future, with a wonderful brush of modern design. Carrying the high-end positioning of the industry park, it brings a multifunctional and dynamic gathering place for the people and the city around.
